Your Mentor:
Hi, my name is Tara. I’m the proud owner, massage therapist + OI nervous system coach at Terra Massage + Wellness. My massage training started in the fall of 2010. I opened my practice in the fall of 2012 while working full time at an eating disorder clinic. Finally, in the spring of 2017, I transitioned my practice to full time.
It took me a long time to feel confident in my hands on work as well as my role as business owner.
The things I felt were missing from the get-go when I started my business was adequate mentorship, supervision, and support from fellow massage therapists who had been there.
Solo massage therapists are not required to engage in supervision. It is up to us as a solo massage therapists to get the support we need. In some ways this is freeing, in other ways this is very challenging and limiting.
Because the truth is, we need support in order to grow effectively in our work.
There are so many things I didn’t know before I took the leap to full time solo massage therapist. That is why I’m here, offering support to my fellow massage therapists, especially those who are just starting out.
I wish I had a plan for all the challenges I came across. The things I’ve come up against in my practice/life as I’ve built my business are the things that I feel most resourced around now, having gone through them.
The challenges I’m most resourced around now (and most excited to support you with) include:
- honoring one’s capacity
- authentic marketing
- boundaries
- raising rates
- enforcing clinic policies
- self-confidence in hands on work + business ownership
