TRE® (tension & trauma releasing exercises) is an innovative series of exercises that helps the body release patterns of muscular tension and stress. TRE safely activates a natural reflex mechanism of shaking or vibrating that calms the nervous system. This is known as the “therapeutic tremor”.
The founder, Dr. David Bercelli created TRE after observing the natural shaking response in traumatized communities. He began to understand that the shaking response is what calms the nervous system down after a traumatic event. This shaking mechanism is innate to all animals and humans. Dogs shake out after overwhelming experiences. My dog does this several times a day. It helps him release the experience and refresh into the next moment.
It’s natural for our bodies to react to stress by contracting tighter and tighter. This inevitably leads to chronic disease and/or burnout. Whether the cause was an old trauma or a new daily stressor, our bodies have a natural mechanism to release tension and restore balance. We simply need to relearn how to shake it off.

What happens in a TRE® session?
You will learn more about what TRE® is and how it was developed. Tara will teach the 7 exercises and help you adapt the exercises as needed. Tara utilizes mindfulness, breath practice, and emotion regulation as part of her sessions. Tara’s intention as a TRE® provider is to create a safe space for clients to release chronic patterns of stress and tension. Once learned, TRE® is an invaluable skill/tool for managing and releasing stress.
What is the cost?
$65 initial | $55 follow-up
Once the initial session is completed, Tara will make a recommendation as to how often to practice TRE® on your own, and if a follow-up session with her is indicated.
TRE® is a safe and effective stress release technique for most people. The TRE process should not be used as a substitute for trauma recovery procedures of a medical or psychological nature. Individuals who have physical or psychological/psychiatric conditions that require strict regulation, individuals with fragile psychological defenses, a complex history of trauma or restricting physical or medical limitations should consult their medical practitioner or a Certified TRE Provider prior to performing these exercises.
